Drafting a new Constitution – Ask the right questions? Only then will you get the answer from the people!

The jokers road show has started. Yesterday, the committee began its hearings in Colombo http://www.news.lk/news/sri-lanka/item/11731-constitutional-reforms-committee-to-begin-work-on-jan-18 without any formal plan, just listen and record recommendations!

Is this a joke, or an attempt to pretend that by March 31st when the Committee stops its Nationwide Road Show, they have received all the recommendations? In truth, it will be the 1,500 most opinionated people who will submit a proposal based on their personal preferences, and understanding of what they believe OUGHT to be included in the Constitution.

It is said that the draft has already been prepared, and any significant and continuous requests amongst the public, could result in amendments to this draft prior to its presentation in parliament for debate.

Submissions will be accepted in all forms of communication so if you want you can even email your recommendations. There is a preferred 20 point format for submissions. https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/constitutional-reforms-committee-calls-for-public-opinion/

The obsession with the ethnic identity of the Sinhala Buddhist is the overriding negative drafting it. http://www.island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-details&code_title=138463

LSSP member and National List MP, Jayampathy Wickremaratne has been brought into parliament specifically to draft this Constitution, but really needs a team of 20 something’s to illustrate the bankruptcy of LSSP ideals in 2016 and beyond in the new Digital Age where there are NO barriers to knowledge!

This is the immediate need of the hour, as in a digital age, a new vision of the future, and its implications for humanity must be envisioned, when drafting the CODE. I am afraid NOT one of the pundits has even had the forethought, foresight to even hint at this desperate need, to ensure we don’t make an old fool’s mistake as was made when JRJ brought in his Constitution from which still suffer its ill effects.

Can you old geysers realize that for a post 1990 birth, political party doesn’t matter; simply selfish survival of the self, equality of access, not race/ religion, restoration of the environment, and freedom from interference, that matter.
