Why is Sri Lanka paying the Chinese to defend their HR record at yesterday’s sessions in Geneva?

The people of Sri Lanka are now reduced to second class citizens in the grab for riches and the first family has usurped or rather grabbed the first class status by force. As if to rub it in the face of Joe Public the percentage take from the Chinese projects as reported in the link here, Chinese Bribe may amount to US$1.8B (Rs250B).

So is it any wonder the Chinese in order to keep getting whopping profitable contracts at high interest rates wish to prop up this regime by praising their efforts? Only when these contracts are so profitable can they pay such bribes to the first family, as commissions or under any other name.

Effectively, the Sri Lankan population unknowingly is paying a huge price running into trillions to the Chinese for them to support SL in International Fora. I challenge anyone to explain why we borrow from Banks such as the Chinese Ex Im Bank at high rates, when with our current rating can borrow on Commercial Terms at far lower rates from Western Banks, which will not pay the level of Bribes the Chinese are willing to. When the first family engages in Daylight Robbery to this extent it is treachery in all senses of the word that is taking place in the name of patriotism.

The Geneva sessions have two camps at different ends, with the anti SL camp being egged on by their wealthy Tamil Diaspora constituents to engage in unfair level of criticism, relating to a race based allegations, which hides the real violations of this Govt. that has little to do with race and a lot to do with suppressing freedom of anyone challenging the legitimacy of the regime to engage in daylight robbery.

We must concentrate our resources on tackling the real issue in Sri Lanka and not let a seemingly disgruntled LTTE lobby steal the thunder, when all that does it further reinforces the regime, when they blame all overseas pressure on LTTE Diaspora trying to destabilize Sri Lanka. The reality is the local Regime muzzling all attempts at exposing the true extent of the corruption, crimes and autocratic rule aimed at self preservation and family rule at the expense of democracy, rule of law and justice.

At a time when the judiciary is under threat, to give the Govt more jingoistic ammunition by the UNHRC which playing right into the GOSL hands, to sway public opinion is calculated to deceive reality and get away with murder.

The sooner the population of Sri Lanka understands the reality, the sooner the culprits can be caught and prosecuted under the same law they are trying to suppress and even over rule by threatening the Judiciary also into submission as rubber stamping robots.
