The Daily News should stop being so asinine – saying CJ should not hear cases

The Daily News quoting legal sources, which in its case means a Government stooge or sycophant! Said the CJ should desist from hearing cases until the Impeachment procedure is over and she is exonerated. Are they so stupid to make a statement like this? The govt could drag this forever in its usual way, and then we have a Court without a CJ, what nonsense is that. It is perfectly acceptable to preside over the Bench while these proceedings, akin to ones brought in by a Kangaroo Court, now presided over by Kangaroo MPs of the Government side. Otherwise the wheels of justice will grind to a halt in Sri Lanka.

It is important to let the law take its course, as now a motion however implausible and hilarious has been brought by a government. I suspect jokers such as the previous CJ Asoka de Silva, previous AG Mohan Peiris and the Constitutional Law Professor GL Peiris have drafted the allegations, and either they are doing the bidding of the President as yes men, or they are morons to bring such nonsensical charges before Parliament.

It is tragic that the Parliament is made a laughing stock of the world. It is also sad that the Government parliamentarians do not realize that or do not care as their interests are not about credibility in the world, just the ability to do as they please as elected representatives and fatten their pockets.

The reading public, who I assume have a little more thinking power than most must realize that whilst we hold the CJ to a different standard than the “malu kade mudalali” and look differently at the same offence committed by both, we must also realize that those who are in Parliament are also worthy of their position, and not act like the “malu kade mudalali”. So when a “ malu kade mudalali” drafted impeachment motion is presented to a supposedly ‘AUGSUT’ body of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, it must be treated with scorn, and dispatched out of order in a legal and transparent manner.

Further ‘malu kade mudalali’ tactics are being resorted to by the Government when it does not appoint the majority to the Parliamentary Select Committee from the Opposition, just as it did not do so for the COPE chairman, and thus bring into disrepute the legitimacy and transparency and objectivity of that body. It therefore further reinforces the “KANGAROOS IN THE COURT” who are trying to impeach a double doctorate, despite my personally disagreeing with many of her verdicts handed down by her Court!
