Who is the MORON who shut off FB VIBER and WHATS APP? WHY?

Dear Mr President,

Instead of doing the obvious, flying into Kandy 3 days ago, you have a Palace there too remember! and taking charge of the situation first hand, you could easily have nipped this little problem in the BUDDDD! (pardon my pun here)

- you created a problem that should really not exist in 2018 in Sri Lanka if we are to be called remotely civilized. What is your legacy going to be when you had an ideal chance to stamp it forever.

You could then have gone to Digana, met the leaders of the Muslim community asked them what their grievances were, and who they believed was responsible for the violence and take the names.

You then go back to your palace in Kandy, call all the people on the list to meet you and in front of all of them and the Muslim Ministers, and ask them what this is all about!

Once you have heard and able to get to the gist of the issue,

You then give directions to both Muslim and Buddhist leaders and tell them to pass the message to their communities and get on the National TV and make a statement saying you had a meeting with the Leaders of all Communities and they agreed to the following.

a, b & c and so on. You sound Presidential and no nonsense (It was simply a disgrace to hear the Police Spokesman simply reading out the punishments for causing racial strife, as NO ONE BELIEVES it least of all the Muslim community that anyone will be prosecuted for their crime. The least that could have been done was for you to read the gist of the message that people understand you are serious and if need be even the Buddhist clergy who is inciting hatred will suffer the SAME consequences)

You have to take the upper hand and NOT worry about upsetting some of the Clergy, as the people will back a strong president anytime over a racist priest, you can bet on that.

MATTER IS DONE AND DUSTED! FINITO - THE END

Instead you are still pussy footing with banning FB VIBER and WHATS APP! Its called freedom of expression is at stake here.

There is a HUGE economic cost in doing so, if you still don't realize it, I am sorry for your ignorance, having relied again on poor advice. ( I know those who are your bad advisers have told you that the rumors are spread on these channels.) WRONG. it is well organized by telephone and you have not banned that have you, and now with NO FB the phone lines are buzzing as I write. I have already had more calls that I have in a week, and that says something!

It is a PRECEDENT and you may know it or not, but that is how your opposition will use it too saying you started this precedent. You have made it in the false belief it is to quell racism, but you have FOREVER HARMED THE ECONOMY in one move, and hardly touched on racist sentiment, you could have nipped above in one brief statement.

You have lost the confidence of the business community, on whom ALL YOUR ECONOMIC POLICIES DEPEND.

In short you have shot yourself in the foot and don't know how to get out of this mess you have now created by your inability to show leadership, and it is time for you to get rid of your advisers, as they have simply failed to provide the quickest solution to this problem.

I did say nip it in the bud at the start didn't I?

The Country (the people of Sri Lanka) will dearly pay for your own error of judgement and you will not even admit you made a mistake. That is the state of the nation at this moment whether you like it of not.

Leaders are elected to take the Country forward not backward to the dark ages of division and hatred based really on economic disparity, in the guise of religious intolerance.

You have created a Frankenstein's monster and let it out of the bag, who knows where it will end and what damage it will do, and you don't seem to be at all bothered.

Why people of Sri Lanka - can't you understand that all you need is one person who truly cares more about the future of Sri Lanka and not their personal survival? So go find one in this sea of 20M people, surely can't you even find one person?

None of our present leaders are up to the mark, let us look outside of parliament for the man or women who can gain the confidence of the nation. we badly need it NOW.

SAD SAD SAD

  1. Lets hope someone conveys this message to the President, before it is too late. He can still take control of the situation and regain the confidence of all Sri Lankans if he acts without fear of offending anyone, and losing the non existent vote base he thinks he still has. So be STATESMAN LIKE FOR GODS SAKE FOR ONCE

  2. Just need a strong leader who speaks for Sri Lanka, and NOT for Sinhala or Muslim. A national leader is one who puts country ahead of a particular group, in the best interests of the whole Country.

We must get race and religion out of our system, It is so last century.

  3. You know what will happen? The government will block blog platforms too. I too am thinking whether or not to upload the blog post I penned on the same issue.
