It was clearly out of order, of the United States authorities, to tell the Govt. what to do in this tense situation that has arisen over the past few days.

It is going to add fuel to the fire instead of fire retardant
It is clearly annoying a lot of people that the US has intervened and the opposition to the Government further ammunition that the US Government dictates to the SL Government on what to do.
Surely the US intelligence agencies know that, and why they go about making incendiary comments is simply beyond logic, except to believe that the US want an unstable Sri Lanka.
We know that lately the US is doing every thing that goes against of rational thought, and to this end should we dispatch this latest bit of advice?
Yes we have an internal problem, we have to investigate who is at the back of it, or if it is merely a spontaneous combustion of pent up racist emotions, that the Govt. is currently unable to control, partly out of its own impotence, but partly out of the strength of the racist opposition, which denies the charge to the public, but engages in stoking the flames in private, with the singular wish of destabalising a democratically elected Government.
The reader may take a different view, all I am requesting is that the US government backs off from their unsolicited or gratuitous comments, which they would not dare make to another country of more importance to the US!
The worst of it is that the Undersecretary General of the UN from the Department of Political Affairs is expected, and he will see this US Govt. circular and will look at the conflict with jaundiced eyes, and not take an impartial look and advice the Sec Gen on the right course of action to bring the two communities in SL to the table to agree on common ground for communal harmony.
ReplyDeleteIts just these double standards that the US uses, that give it a bad name. After all I thought they do this for their interests, and here it is simply going against their interests to get involved. Obviously no one is at the helm of US foreign policy right now, with the shenanigans within the Trump administration
